Currently, My Canadian Pharmacy takes part is the Maternal and Child Health Program.

Program Goals

  • The formation of a healthy lifestyle and the prevention of diseases in children;
  • creation of conditions for the provision of affordable and high-quality medical care for children and mothers;
  • improving the health status of children and mothers;
  • reduction in maternal, infant and child mortality

Program Tasks

  • Development of a system of medical prevention of noncommunicable diseases and the formation of a healthy lifestyle, including in children;
  • prevention of addiction development, including reducing the consumption of tobacco, alcohol, drugs and psychoactive substances in children;
  • improving the organization and conduct of preventive medical examinations and medical examination of children in order to ensure the timely detection of diseases that make the greatest contribution to the indicators of disability and mortality in the child population;
  • increasing the availability and quality of medical care for mothers and children;
  • development of specialized medical care for mothers and children;
  • ensuring accessibility and improving the quality of medical rehabilitation of children in a three-tier system of medical care;
  • improvement and development of prenatal and neonatal diagnostics, neonatal and fetal surgery;
  • a decrease in the level of the first established disability of children prevention and reduction of abortion.

Target indicators of the Program

  • Coverage of preventive medical examinations of children;
  • coverage with preventive examinations of orphans and children in difficult situations, staying in stationary institutions of the education, health and social protection systems, as well as orphans and children left without parental care transferred to various forms of family placement;
  • the proportion of pregnant women examined according to the new algorithm for conducting a comprehensive prenatal (prenatal) diagnosis of developmental disorders of the child from the number registered in the first trimester of pregnancy;
  • neonatal screening coverage;
  • audiological screening coverage;
  • early neonatal mortality rate;
  • mortality of children 0-17 years old;
  • the proportion of women with premature births delivered at perinatal centers;
  • the survival rate of children who had very low and extremely low body weight at birth in an obstetric hospital;
  • hospital mortality of children;
  • medical rehabilitation coverage for children with disabilities;
  • coverage by spa treatment of children;
  • first established disability in children;
  • the effectiveness of abortion prevention measures.

Stages and terms of the Program implementation

The program will be implemented in 2019-2021.

Expected results of the Program

  • An increase in the proportion of pregnant women examined by the new algorithm for conducting a comprehensive prenatal diagnosis of developmental disorders of the child up to 50%;
  • 95% coverage by a neonatal and audiological screening of the total number of newborns;
  • reduction of early neonatal mortality to 3.2 cases per 1000 live births;
  • 75% coverage with preventive medical examinations of children;
  • 95% medical examination coverage of orphans and children in difficult situations, staying in stationary institutions of the education, health and social protection systems, as well as orphans and children left without parental care transferred to various forms of family placement;
  • reduction in mortality of children 0-17 years old to 8.6 cases per 10 thousand of the population of the corresponding age;
  • increase in the proportion of women with preterm births delivered at the perinatal centers up to 55%;
  • increased survival of children with very low and extremely low birth weight in obstetric hospitals;
  • reduction in hospital mortality of children to 0.22%;
  • an increase in the coverage of medical rehabilitation of children with disabilities from the number of those in need up to 85%;
  • a decrease in primary disability in children to 27.3 per 10 thousand children of the corresponding age;
  • increase in the proportion of women who have decided to have a pregnancy up to 8%.
